Love Your Scales!   When you attend the clinic for the first time you will be asked to register with us and provide enough information for us to ensure you receive the best possible care. You will then see one of our doctors, who will discuss privately with you your eating habits and lifestyle, then if appropriate, decide how much weight you should aim to lose.

The doctor will ask you a series of questions about your medical history, weigh you, and take your blood pressure, to see if you are medically fit and able to follow one of our regimes.

The doctor will then recommend a particular diet for you to follow, explaining what you should and should not do, then fine tune your eating plan to suit your taste. If appropriate, the doctor may prescribe some form of appetite suppressant or lipase inhibitor to help you adapt to the new diet. These come in the form of a pill or capsule.

The appetite suppressants are designed to take the edge off your appetite, and make it easier for you to stick to the weight reducing diet without suffering hunger pangs or being tempted to nibble. Lipase inhibitors are one of the latest forms of treatment for weight loss and work by stopping you digesting about 30% of the fat in the food you eat.

Your doctor will normally ask you to return in a week's time, to check that you are happy with the diet and any medication, answer any questions arising from your treatment and check that you are starting to lose weight. This process of regular consultation with the doctor is at the heart of our treatment plans, enabling you to feel comfortable that you are progressing with all the support and encouragement you need.

Depending on your size at the start of your programme, you should expect to lose between 7 and 14 pounds in the first month, then 6 or 7 pounds a month thereafter depending on how well you manage to keep to the new eating plan! We will keep you on your diet for ten to twelve weeks, then may ask you to take a break of three to four weeks from your medication before restarting. The number of visits you make to us depends on how much weight you need to lose and how successful you are at your diet.

Our success as a clinic is based on our number of satisfied patients. Over 60% of new patients are referred to us from former patients, who have been successful in losing weight and have enjoyed their programmes with us.

Restrictions on Treatment

Given our aim to put you, the patient, at the heart of everything we do, there may be some occasions when we are unable to offer treatment. If you are currently being treated for another condition by your doctor, we may not be able to treat you without that doctor’s permission. There are some conditions such as glaucoma, epilepsy and depression where appetite suppressants cannot be used. We cannot treat you if yoru are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. In such situations we may be able to help you with lipase inhibitors or through more general advice and support. This list is not exhaustive and treatment will always be at our doctors’ discretion. If we are unable to treat you, we will not make any charge.

Attendance : We regret that our doctors are unable to treat patients without the patient physically attending  our clinic in Victoria, Central London.
